Elston Inn History

Honoring the governor’s directive related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Elston Inn and Conference Center has temporarily suspended operations. We are currently booking events for spring of 2021. If you have questions or would like more information on facility rentals, please contact the director of hospitality at cdmays@sbc.edu or call 434-381-6448. Please check back with us for updates and opportunities to book your special event or celebration. Newly refreshed, the center is located at the entrance to Sweet Briar College’s 2,840-acre campus, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Whether you’re a member of the Sweet Briar community, sightseeting in the area, or looking for the perfect place for your wedding or meeting, we are the perfect place to stop.

The Sweet Briar College campus is one of the most beautiful in the country. You’ll find several buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, fishing ponds, tennis courts, nature sanctuaries, art galleries, a museum, theater performances, other cultural events and an extensive network of walking, biking and hiking trails.

Our location in the center of Virginia is also a wonderful launching place for a host of day trips too. Richmond and Williamsburg are just a short drive to the east. Roanoke and Blacksburg lie to the west. Virginia’s horse country and Charlottesville are north and the historic city of Lynchburg is just 30 minutes south.
